Any minion fans out there?...
How about crocheted minion fans?

I just finished this pair of minion flip-flops, inspired by THIS VIDEO.  I used wiggle eyes and bottle caps for the eyes; then, I used black ribbon to look like the straps of their little goggles...   I've still got two more pairs to make now!

I think I'll make myself some iced coffee,
and then...

I'm off to make Ba-Na-Na Bread!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
I hear it's gonna get warm over the coming
week.  Keep cool everybody!

Projets de Papier

Those who know me best, know I love to art-journal, and I love keeping planners as well. (In fact, it's become a necessity.  I'm not getting any younger, and I'm afraid my brain isn't getting any sharper!)

Allow me to re-introduce my little family of journals...
(all named, just for fun!)

From the left, clockwise...
I use the purple Day Runner, Amy, for craft planning;
the black Miquelrius, (as my fauxbonichi), Rowena;
the black Franklin Covey, Lily, is my home planner;
and my little pink Piazza Filofax, Sara,
is a planner for my purse.

I love picking up little "goodies" to use
with all my journals...  like stickers and washi tapes.

I love trying out new pens or pencils..

Previously I've shared my art journals, and/or the various pages I've created; but I've found that time does not allow what it takes to do that kind of thing on a daily basis anymore.  I don't have time to drag out the gesso, the tools, the stencils, the stamps, the inks, the ump-teen colors of paints, the ephemera, etc., etc., etc....  So I was discouraged.  I found I couldn't do what I loved, until I was introduced to what's referred to as a "fauxbonichi".  It's a journal of one's choice, be it a 99-cent notebook, or a more expensive journal, depending on one's preferences; but the idea is to journal, scrap, sketch, paint, color, etc., etc., all in one book...   (in my own case, on a smaller, simpler scale) I create a page either everyday, or whenever time allows.  It's my book, about 8" x 6" in size, and there are no rules!

I can use pencils, pens, crayons..   Nothing too complicated here!  I even joined a group, Fauxbonichi Journalers, on Facebook.   Here, members can share their work, their ideas, their suggestions, and artistic prompts...  I really love this style, or method, of journaling!

It just fits my lifestyle best right now.  Some pages are done very plain and simply, while other pages may be more elaborate and colorful; but I enjoy looking through the work I've put into it, from time to time, and I most love the memories I can look back on!

Here is a crafty paper project I recently did.  These Jar-Shaped ATCs are inspired by THIS VIDEO.

I added my own homemade soda bottle cap embellishments, and then made the ATCs into refrigerator magnets for myself and a friend.  Without the caps, I still think they would make cute bookmarks, recipe cards, journaling spots, or maybe as photo mats for scrapbooks or mini albums!...

Well...  That's it for today.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Baby Blanket!

I feel so badly that it's been so long since I last posted.  Admittedly, I am sidetracked by Facebook, and Pinterest, and other things going on in my life, in general.  Sadly, I've even considered taking my blog down, but I was afraid it would be an action I'd regret.  I still love Blogland, and the friends I've made here.  So, here I am, and I'd just like to take this time to post a most wonderful bit of news with any of my followers who are still hangin' in there with me...

My baby is having a baby!!

I'm going to be a "Grammie"!!!   I am so happy, so excited, and so truly blessed!..  And you just KNOW I had to get out my yarn and crochet hook for this!

I just finished a baby afghan, done in a basic granny square style, in the colors Dear Daughter picked out.  Originally, we were going to throw in the color yellow too, but "Ick, spit, sputter, bleck, pew-y, ew..  YUCK!!!"  I tried it several different ways, (frog, frog, frog..  rip-it, rip-it, rip-it!) and yellow was just not working nicely with the other colors.  So blue, green, and white, was the color-combo I went with, in yarns by Red Heart with Love.

All ready for my first grandbaby!...   And yes, if the colors didn't clue you in, IT'S A BOY!  He's due around the end of August!!!  And quick like a bunny, I'm preparing my home for all the quality time I look forward to spending with him!  I just recently picked up a baby swing, and a stroller...  I already have a high chair, because I never could part with the one my own babies used, when they will little.

I'd like to sew up a baby quilt, but we'll see when I can fit that in.  Here's just a little somethin-somethin that I whipped up most recently, on my sewing machine.

This was just a practice-kind-of project.  I like it, but I just don't know yet what to do with it.  Maybe I'll make it into to the top-front of an apron???..  A trivet?...   Or just stick it in a frame, and hang it up on my kitchen wall?  That's probably what I'll end up doing.

I still enjoy art journaling...

but in time, I found it too time-consuming.  I stumbled upon a simpler form of art journaling/junk journaling/scrapbooking/planner-keeping, in what's called a "fauxbonichi".  While I still keep track of appointments, etc., etc. in my Franklin Covey planner, or purse-sized Filofax, I now find myself unwinding, nearly every night, writing, or doodling, or scrapping in my fauxbonichi in a fraction of the time it takes to spread out my big art journal and all the gessos, paints, stencils, etc., etc...   I joined a group on Facebook, called Fauxbonichi Journalers, where I find a good many sources of inspiration, prompts, and challenges.  Here are just a couple of pages I've done, just for example.

A simple ball-point pen, a set of colored pencils
or crayons, and I'm good to go!!!

I LOVE it, and it just fits me better these days!
Most recently....

I still enjoy crafting, every now and then.  Here are some paper cupcake-liner flowers I made.  I love the bright, pearl-like colors!...

Here, I made some flowers with dryer sheets!
Again, I love the bright colors!

By the way, I still love to bake too!..
(assmbly-line-style banana breads!)

Well, that's enough for now, I guess.  I hope to stop by Blogland a little more regularly than I have lately.  I'd love to share more soon, if I can, and I'd love to catch back up with everybody else here too!  It seems as though I'm ever evolving, but that's what life is all about, right?!  You just roll with the changes, and thank God for every day!..   Much love to you all!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ring In the New!

It looks like I will be working in three different art journals for 2015.  We'll see how that works out, considering what time I've got for just one, but this is the one I will be working with most of the time...

I chose the color of my cover in accordance to Pantone's 2015 color of the year, marsala...

After seeing how big the binding should have been on my 2014 journal, I went an inch bigger for this year.

I don't feel strongly for any major resolutions or goals of any specific kind this year, but I did eventually come up with a chosen word to focus on...

2014 was a good year, but December turned out to be a little bit of a rough, or disappointing, should I say, way to end it...  As much as I love the holidays, I tried not to let little things ruin the joy and magic of the beautiful Christmas season.  Sometimes, you just have to be tough, and rise above your problems as best you can, even if it takes everything you've got!  You just have to move on, keep your chin up, and simply PERSEVERE!..  "CARRY ON"!

So how do I move/carry on?...  Sometimes it helps to change the scenery a little bit.

I took the Christmas ornaments off my table-top, 3-foot Christmas tree in the living room, and switched the theme to New Year's Eve!   I thought I'd ring in the new year with silver garland, silver bells and little clocks that I made myself with cardboard, ribbon trims, and a stencil for the face of each one.

I changed the scenery in my Franklin Covey planner by inserting brand new calender/planner pages for 2015!

Fresh, clean pages to start off a fresh new year!  I may need to add new tabs still, as mine are starting to look a little ragged; but otherwise, boy do I thank God for this little blessing.  It helps me more than I really ever imagined!

What else helps to keep my spirits up these days?...   Well, I always love trying out new recipes!

Here's one I just made, called Magic Custard Cake.  Yes, dessert always cheers me up!..  Delicious, and easy to make, I'd say this recipe is a keeper.  The only thing that I changed in the recipe was that I substituted cherry-pie filling for fresh strawberries. You can find the recipe HERE.

All in all, I do believe attitude is everything!  You can either choose to let something drag you down, or you can buck up and move on!  Life is what YOU make of it...

(top quote by Mary Shelley; quote inside heart by Ralph Waldo Emerson)

If anyone or anything threatens to steal my joy, or my sense of peace, then why should I let them?!  All I have to do is "Shake It Off!"

Thanks for stopping by today,
and best wishes to everyone for a
blessed and very Happiest New Year ever!
